Letter from Mrs Hughes

5th January 2021

Dear Parent/Carer

Thank you for your patience and understanding today. It has been a very difficult time for us all. In line with current government advice, all critical workers and vulnerable pupils can attend school, this may be subject to change by the Government/Lancashire County Council risk assessments. As part of our risk assessment, we have had to limit numbers to a maximum of 10 children per year group. However, this is based on full staffing levels. If staff are unable to attend school, we will have to adjust our level of support.

We hope to open to all key worker children but may need to prioritise. Please confirm your keyworker role, specifically if you are frontline NHS staff or education key workers. Where there are two parents in the household, information for both will be required. Employees may be asked to provide evidence of your employment. If your child is attending school, please use the usual entrances into school for drop off and collection. Adults must wear face masks whilst on the school grounds unless they are exempt. Please collect promptly at 3.10pm. School meals will continue as normal and children must wear full school uniform.

For those eligible for FSM, I am presuming that food parcels or vouchers will be made available. I will share more information when I receive any details

Remote Learning - It is vital that all the children complete the work. The Government guidance is that all children should complete a minimum of 3 hours work every day. The children in school will complete the same work as the children working from home. Each class teacher will share the learning on dojos. Work will be sent out daily on this platform and children will be set deadlines for completion. Staff will mark or respond to completed work. We will be following our normal curriculum. Weekly class timetable with links to work with topic activities will also be put onto the website on the class page each Monday for parents who can’t access Dojo. Activity packs and resources are available for collection from the office door. There are also ongoing IT resources which will be used to consolidate learning such as RM Maths, Lexia, TTRS, Numbots and Purple Mash, TenTen. Passwords will have been shared with the children and are also in their activity packs.

We understand that this is a difficult time. Children find home learning very challenging. Please try your best to support us. Please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help.

Yours sincerely

Mrs R Hughes
