Reception Class

Welcome from Miss Waters & Mrs Massaro

A heartfelt welcome to our Reception class – where the adventure of learning begins with love, laughter, and discovery.

Reception is a special time in your child’s life, and here at our school, we are privileged to share in these precious early steps. Our classroom is led by Miss Waters (Class Teacher) and lovingly supported by Mrs Massaro (Teaching Assistant). Together, we create a nurturing, play-based environment where every child is celebrated, supported, and encouraged to flourish.

Living, Loving and Learning Together

As a Catholic school, our mission is grounded in the belief that we are made in the image of God to live, love and learn in a caring Catholic community. In Reception, we live out this vision daily—through kindness, respect, shared joy, and a deep sense of belonging for every child and family.

Our School Day

The Reception school day begins at 8:40am and finishes at 3:10pm. A prompt start helps set the tone for a happy and focused day ahead.

Learning Through Play and Exploration

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, focusing on the seven key areas of learning:

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical Development

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

Our aim is to help each child work towards the Early Learning Goals by the end of the year, developing their confidence, independence, creativity, and love of learning in a way that is both meaningful and fun.

A Home from Home

Reception is more than just a classroom – it’s a community where your child will grow, make friends, find their voice, and begin to understand their place in the world. We are here every step of the way, working in partnership with you to ensure your child feels safe, loved, and inspired.

We can’t wait to share this wonderful year with you.

With warmth and blessings,
Miss Waters & Mrs Massaro
