Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

Welcome to our Year 2 class page. Our teachers are here to guide and support your child every step of the way.

In Year 2, we continue to build upon the strong foundations laid in Year 1 and foster a deep love for learning through exciting activities, interactive experiences, and collaborative exploration. Our goal is to nurture each child's unique talents, spark boundless curiosity, and cultivate essential skills that will benefit them academically and personally!

How can I help my child?

The transition from Year 1 to Year 2 is a big change for your child and we want to make it as easy as possible and provide a smooth transition for you and your child.

You can help to support them by:

  • Ensuring all your child's belongings are clearly labelled to avoid any lost uniform
  • Listening to them read at home for a short period each night and ask them questions to clarify their understanding of what has been read
  • Look out for information about our topics on the website and encourage your child to continue learning at home

In Year 2, you will be expected to:

  • Always do your best
  • Be kind to everyone
  • Follow your class rules
  • Have your reading book in school every day
  • Look after your own things
  • Respect each other and their property

Our PE sessions will be on a Monday afternoon, PE kits should be worn all day on Mondays. Many of our sessions will be outdoors, children can wear trainers as well as plain blue/black tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie during the colder months.

Topics this year will include:

  • Home is where the heart is
  • Nurturing Nurses
  • Seeds, Soil and Sunshine
  • Once upon a time
  • All creatures great and small
  • Beside the seaside

We are thrilled to have this opportunity to connect with you and build a strong partnership between home and school. Your questions, concerns, and insights are all incredibly valuable to us, and we encourage you to reach out at any time. Your input is essential, and we can't wait to work together closely to ensure that every child achieves success.

Let's embark on this journey together with open hearts, welcoming the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the teachings of Jesus Christ. May this year be a time of abundant blessings, growth, and joy as we live out our faith and fulfill our God-given potential.
